Greenworks Lending is a specialty finance firm that provides loans for energy-saving upgrades in commercial buildings using an innovative model called C-PACE (Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy). C-PACE unlocks the commercial market by providing no-money-down, low-cost, long-term capital. Greenworks is investor-funded with employees in Darien, CT (HQ), Maryland, Ohio and California.

Role description:

The business development manager has primary responsibility for converting opportunities generated through Greenworks’ loan origination team into closed projects, managing channel partner relationships and driving complex commercial projects through to completion. Candidate will be located in California; preferred candidate will be located in the Bay Area.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Form relationships with commercial clean energy contractors, building owners, and other industry stakeholders
  • Conduct basic financial due diligence to prequalify eligible project leads
  • Build cash flow models for prospective projects
  • Drive team pipeline generation and manage pipeline to close
  • Partner with the finance team and external technical reviewers to obtain necessary financial and technical documentation to qualify projects
  • Work with mortgage holders (where applicable) to gain consent for C-PACE financing
  • Work with the Greenworks business development team to refine current processes to be more efficient and scalable
  • Increase market awareness of Greenworks Lending
  • Contribute to business development strategy

Qualifications:

The position is ideally suited for competitive project management and sales professionals looking to expand their responsibilities and compensation while working towards a mission-driven goal in a rapidly growing company. All candidates should have 2+ years of complex (multi-stakeholder) outside sales, experience with directing a team in a growing organization, and relevant experience in at least one of the following industries: commercial loan origination, commercial real estate, commercial clean energy finance, solar project managements, commercial energy efficiency/clean energy. They should have a proven track record of exceeding goals.

  • Project management experience.
  • Experience selling through channel partners.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (phone and in-person) and written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of adaptability to a quickly changing environment
  • Ability to manage a team against goals and prioritize a large volume of tasks and projects
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of solar project economics, commercial utility rates, and other clean energy programs in California a plus.
